Looks like the smartphone gods are showering their blessings on Apple these days. After Samsung’s recall fiasco with the Galaxy Note 7, today’s good news comes in the form of some strong global smartphone sales data for Apple. Even though the timing of this report seems quite questionable considering the iPhone 7 is set to launch today, recent Q2 numbers from Strategy Analytics and Kantar show that Apple’s current flagship smartphone, the iPhone 6s, is the best-selling phone in the world, as well as in the US .
According to Strategy Analytics, the iPhone 6s accounts for 4.2% of global smartphone sales, followed by the iPhone 6 at 2.5%, while the Samsung Galaxy S7 is is a close third at 2.4%.
Neil Mawston, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics, says, “The iPhone 6s is wildly popular in dozens of countries globally, due to its attractive hardware design blended with rich features such as 4K video, large multi-touch display and fingerprint security.”
