For a long time now, there have been several rumours surfacing online about the iPhone 17 Pro. One of the most interesting speculations was about its design — especially the idea that Apple might introduce a dual-tone back. But now, a new report suggests that might not happen.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 Pro will look a lot like the iPhone 16 Pro, at least from the front. Apple has kept the overall design of its Pro models fairly consistent ever since the iPhone 12 was launched back in 2020. The iPhone 13 Pro and 14 Pro kept the same look, while the 15 Pro only swapped the aluminum body for a titanium one. With the iPhone 16 Pro, Apple didn’t really change much — it just added a Camera Control button and some new colours.

The iPhone 17 Pro and the rumoured iPhone 17 Air are expected to bring the biggest design update. Still, don’t expect anything too dramatic. The front of the phone is likely to remain very similar to its predecessor, according to Gurman.
The biggest change appears to be in the back camera area. Based on recent leaks and online renders, the iPhone 17 Pro will still feature a triple-camera setup — a layout we’ve seen since the iPhone 11 Pro. However, the cameras will now sit on a wider panel that stretches across the back of the phone.
Some renders even show a two-tone look, with a black camera section placed over a silver body. But Gurman says those images are inaccurate. Instead, the back of the iPhone 17 Pro will likely be a single colour — meaning no dual-tone design.
