Apple iPhone 17 could feature an in-house battery with improved performance: Know more
HIGHLIGHTS

Apple has been working on this battery since 2018, as per the reports.

Apple is quite determined to bring out an all-new battery and focus on improving performance.

The tech giant is expected to improve the battery for its devices including the iPhone 17.

Apple is infamous for its batteries and battery life. And now we hear that the California-based tech company is working on a battery that it aims to incorporate into its devices by 2025 to offer an improved battery backup. Let’s see what Apple has in the pipeline.

If media reports are to be believed, Apple has been working on this battery for a while now and this has been under work since 2018. Apple has been filing for patents and is also hiring people for the same.

According to a report by ETNews, Apple started to look into the battery issue more seriously after Apple’s Vision Pro headset was announced. This required really high-performing batteries.

Apple is quite determined to bring out an all-new battery and focus on improving performance. They are getting directly involved in material usage too. Further, to be sure of the performance, energy density, output, and stability, Apple is working on the cathode material of the battery. Apparently, moving away from the current composition, Apple is going for a new combination of nickel, cobalt, manganese, and aluminium.

So, Apple is expected to improve the battery for its devices including the iPhone 17. To increase the conductivity of the battery materials and to deliver better performance from lesser-used battery materials, Apple could go with carbon nanotubes. It could further increase the amount of silicon in the battery and replace graphite for it. This could not only increase the capacity but also reduce the charging and discharging time.

Even though we don’t know much, this seems like Apple is working on a sort of battery that hasn’t hit the market yet. Earlier, the project was being co-developed with Apple’s electric vehicle project but the focus shifted to mobile devices, as per reports. If everything goes as planned, Apple could start rolling this out with its devices by 2025.
