Apple has been breaking the news with its latest Apple Vision Pro. The spatial reality headset has taken the internet by storm. But between all of this, there are also rumours circulating about this year’s upcoming iPhone 16. Let’s spill the tea, shall we?
Apple has been working on the vanilla iPhone 16 prototypes for some time now. We heard on the grapevine that it is playing around with the lens placement on the rear camera module. Over the past months, various prototypes with different camera designs have surfaced on the internet but this one stands out.

As you must be aware, the current iPhone 15 features two camera sensors, diagonally placed in a squarish camera module on the top left corner. Now according to a recent report by MacRumors, the latest iPhone 16 prototypes sport a vertical placement for both lenses, one below the other. It shows a pill-shaped raised camera module instead of the current squared one.
This camera island features two separate camera rings, one for the Wide lens and the other one for the Ultrawide sensor. The flash is placed on the right-hand side of these two lenses, outside of the pill-shaped bump. These prototypes are further backed by a leak by Majin Bu on X where he shared similar design patterns.

It is being said that Apple is taking inspiration from its previous iPhone X and iPhone 12 models. Further, it is also speculated that this is being done to include spatial video recording in the base variants of the iPhone 16 series.
But, yes there’s a but here, this is just another leak so we are not sure if it will end up playing out, but it is coming from a reliable source. However, according to Apple’s design change patterns and timeline, there are still two more years until we see a major change in the iPhone’s design.
