Apple to make iPhone 14 in India: Here’s when it is reported to start production
The iPhone 14 production schedule for India is said to start two months after China-made units are out.
Let’s see some of the likely reasons for this.
And we have the tentative timeline for the arrival of the new iPhones.
Apple has been making iPhones in India for a couple of years now but this year, it is said to start the Indian production of the iPhone 14 series closely, if not at the same time as China. Well, slightly different from earlier reports, this new Bloomberg piece suggests the iPhone 14s will be made in India two months after it releases China-made units.
That could mean the iPhone 14 from India will be available by late October or November. What would be interesting to see is if the Cupertino-giant manages to have the new iPhones on store shelves by Diwali.
Why this delay in iPhone production in India though?
There could be multiple reasons for this, some of which are given below:
Production of iPhones has to meet the Apple standard of secrecy. Implementing that in markets other than China could be a tough task. Take for example, the Indian customs rule that enables the officials to check if the imported items match the declaration.
It could also be impacted by ongoing chip crises and supply chain hurdles.
The workforce and factory systems are reportedly not as Apple wants them to be. There have been instances of labor strikes and ruckus over poor working conditions at these factories owing to hard and fast Apple production requirements.
So, upon studying both countries’ shipping processes, Apple’s key partner Foxconn Group is aiming to kick off the Indian iPhone 14 production two months after the China-made units release.
However, be that as it may, Apple has been seeing a growing demand for iPhones in India. Moreover, a country with 1.4 billion people that happens to be the world’s second-largest smartphone market is ought to lure the iPhone maker.
