While Indian customers have been able to procure the Apple iPad 2 either internationally or through online retail channels like HomeShop18, real shelves in India are still not stocking the popular tablet. If a report by OnlyGizmos is to be believed however, the Apple iPad 2 will apparently be officially launching very soon in India, i.e., by next week. Apple COO, Tim Cook, was the source, when he spoke of the success of the new tablet, stating the iPad 2 would be hitting 13 new countries in a week – a list that includes India.

While there have been no official confirmations from Apple regarding the arrival of the iPad 2 in India, we remain hopeful. For now, official pricing is still unknown, but as expected, Apple will probably launch the tablets at the original iPad prices, when it first arrived in India, starting at Rs. 27,900 for the base 16GB Wi-Fi only model. The news will undoubtedly make many happy, especially those who had considered paying a substantial premium to get the device by any means to the country.
