Apple got you the iPhone pricing and pre-orders, we’ve got you the drama and dilemma
The iPhone 4 made a huge debut in the US market. The landing turned out to be so massive, that the first stock of 600,000 iPhones sold out in no time and that eventually ended up crashing the entire ordering system of AT&T.
The hype was outrageous, even Apple was aware of it; they came up with a stock to take more than half-a-million pre-orders to satisfy the eager early buds. Turned out, they envisioned only the tip of the iceberg.
Now to put the horns on the devil; the disaster wasn’t over with just crashing the ordering system – but entailed some serious security flaws, also! We don’t want to say much about it, but rumour has it that after giving your own login credentials, you may be welcomed into a completely different user’s account to feel like home – perhaps now you can guess the Richter scale reading at AT&T.
Though other carrier partners than AT&T didn’t end up crashing their site, but were left with a minion of frustrated potential customers, who were late by seconds after the ‘virtual shop-lifting‘ was over.
Moving out to the rest of the world other than US, the great news for the British and Canadian market is that, Apple will be selling the unlocked version of iPhone 3GS as well as iPhone 4 in those countries. Pricing details are in the UK are £499 for a 16GB iPhone 4 and £599 for the 32GB iPhone 4, releasing June 24th. Though iPhone 4 will also be available on contract, it’s always good to have a flexible option… what say?
Now parallel to the unlocked devices there in UK, Orange has announced the plan and pricing details of iPhone 4 contract (locked to their carrier) in the UK market, also scheduled to be released on June 24th. It seems that Orange had a better sense of the wind, as the iPhone prices in the UK market (even of the locked ones) are sort of a pocket heist. On behalf of Orange, let’s hope the hype compensates the hike.
