Apple cuts off Google Voice from iPhone

Another sacrifice to the Altar of Apple’s Madness, better known as the iPhone AppStore.

“You shall not innovate”, seems to be the one commandment followed by the Apple AppStore reviewers. Nothing else seems to be common amongst the many many applications that have been rejected.

Google Voice
is an innovative service by Google, that stands to revolutionize the way we use telephony in our lives. It stands to do to Voice communication what GMail did for email: take it to to the next level of awesome.

The biggest threat that the Google Voice application poses is to AT&T, since it gives unlimited free SMS’s and cheap international calling rates. In Google’s own quite accurate definition , “Google Voice gives you one number for all your phones, voicemail as easy as email, and lots of cool calling features.” Think of how cool that would be! Alas, iPhone users will be out of the loop.

Recently they “requested’ that Google deploy their Google Latitude application as a web application instead of a native application, because it would conflict with their own Maps application (which uses data from Google Maps, by the way!). If nothing else, stuff like this does keep Apple in the news, if only as a fascist organization that would have you get only as much joy out of their products as they would deem fit.
