Some time back, a warning was issued to Apple users for possible vulnerabilities in the iOS systems that could hamper the users’ privacy. Now, the Indian Computer Response Team (CERT-IN) has found vulnerabilities in the Android operating systems too. Read along to find out and protect yourself.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY) Indian Computer Response Team (CERT-IN) has found multiple vulnerabilities in the Android operating systems, which means that it affects multiple Android devices. This includes versions 11, 12,12L, 13 and 14. It further added that attackers could use these loopholes to get their hands on sensitive information, get elevated privileges, and even cause denial of service on the targeted system.

Even Google supported these claims and said in its Android Security Bulletin that these security vulnerabilities aren’t good for Android users and can affect them. It plans on releasing new security updates for Android users soon.
Speaking about these vulnerabilities, CERT-IN said, “These vulnerabilities exist in Android due to flaws in the Framework, System, Google Play system updates, Kernel LTS, Arm components, MediaTek components, Qualcomm components, and Qualcomm closed-source components.”
To keep yourself protected, first identify your Android version and then update it to the latest available one. You can check the Android version number, security update level, and Google Play system level in your Settings app.

To simply check your Android version, go to ‘Settings’, then ‘About Phone’, and then click on “Android Version”. You’ll find the “Android version,” “Android security update,” and “Build number.” Now update this to the latest available version.
If you want to check whether an update is available for you or not, simply head to ‘Settings’. From here, click on ‘Security & Privacy’ and then ‘System & Updates’. If you want to get Security Updates, then click on Security Update. If you want to update your Google Play System, then click on that. Usually, these updates happen automatically.
