The Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Samsung Galaxy S8 seems to have been halted just hours after starting to roll out. Samsung says the update was causing some phones to restart randomly, per a report by SamMobile. The fixed update will start rolling out “as quickly as possible,” the company said.
The update was pulled down on Monday according to SamMobile, and the issue affected both the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ in “a limited number of cases”.
The Oreo update was not distributed worldwide and the problem is somewhat limited. Users in India and a few European and Middle Eastern countries are stuck on a buggy software. Samsung did beta test the update for quite some time and it isn’t clear how this could happen. For now, those new emojis have to wait to be used.
The Galaxy S8 isn't the only phone set to receive the update to Android Oreo. According to a leaked list, the Galaxy Note series, C series, On series, J series and A series are set to receive the update as well. Let's just hope Samsung gets it right this time.
