The preview includes support for Daydream VR, circular app icons, image keyboard and more

Google has announced that it will be releasing the developer preview of the first major update to Nougat later this month. The update bumps the version up to 7.1 and brings with it a number of new features. This includes support for Daydream VR, circular app icons, image keyboard and more. The preview will initially be available for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and the Pixel C device. The company notes that the final release of Nougat v7.1.x is due in early December and will be rolled out to the Nexus 6, 5X, 6P, 9, Player, Pixel C, and supported Android One devices. The newly launched Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones will also get the update about that time.

To recall, Google had started rolling out Android Nougat to Nexus device in August this year. Unlike previous years, Google did not launch a new phone to coincide with the launch of their new OS. This time around, the LG V20 had the honour of being the first smartphone to come with Android Nougat pre-loaded. To know if your phone is in line to get the Nougat update, click here.
