Google’s Android One phones may have been long overdue for the Lollipop update, but they may be among the first to get the Android 5.1 update. Currently, the latest version of Android Lollipop is 5.0.2, which is available for Nexus devices. Google’s Android One website though revealed the existence of Android 5.1, which will be brought to these devices.
Yesterday, Google had tweeted that the new version will be coming to Android One smartphone in the “next few weeks”. The update though was expected much sooner for the Android One smartphones. The existence of Android 5.1 though may explain why it took Google so much time to roll out the update.
Further, according to a report by Android Police, the Android 5.1 update is already being rolled out to Android One users in Indonesia. While the changes that this OS will bring are not known yet, an Android Pit report said that Google will restore a true Silent mode with it.
