The HTC One, HTC’s flagship smartphone ran on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean straight out of the box. The carrier-free, factory unlocked version of the smartphone, has started receiving the Android 4.2.2 update globally. The update is a whopping 417MB.
The update brings with it a slew of features such as an enhanced launcher bar, access to quick settings, the ability to rearrange the widget panel, and Android Daydream mode. The status bar now shows the battery percentage. You can also launch the options menu by long pressing the home key and swiping up from the home key now can launch Google.
Instagram support also finds its way on the bling feed and the cameras AF/AE performance has also been enhanced. You can also access lock screen widgets on the HTC One after the update.
HTC One owners were the first to get access to the 4.2.2 update and now it’s the European market that has started seeing the update roll out. If your smartphone doesn’t prompt you about the update, you can always manually check for the update by going to the settings > About > Software updates. There is no information available as to when the update will hit India.
The HTC one is quite an impressive flagship smartphone. It has a 4.7-inch full HD Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The Android OS is skinned with the HTC Sense UI. The rear of the smartphone has a 4MP UltraPixel camera and there is a 2.1MP front facing camera for video calling. The smartphone runs on a Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600 Quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 CPU along with Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It houses 32/64GB built in storage without any expandable option. A 2300mAh battery powers the device.
If you are in a dilemma whether to pick up the HTC One or the competing Samsung Galaxy S4, we have the perfect comparative analysis for you. If HTC sense isn’t the most attractive UI and you still want to try your hands at the HTC One you could consider picking up an HTC One running stock Android.
