Amazon has quietly made its Amazon Appstore available in countries outside the US. Amazon Appstore for Android, which is said to be Amazon’s reply to Google’s Android Market, was launched earlier this year and then was only available to the US users. Now it seems Amazon has lifted that restriction as Android users across the world report being able to access the Appstore through their devices. The Amazon Appstore for Android is also reported to be available in India.
To install the Amazon Appstore for Android, all you need to do is visit http://www.amazon.com/app-email via your Android device. Download the Android Appstore for Android app and then log in through you Amazon accounts.
It’s notable that Amazon has not yet made any official announcement regarding the global launch of its Appstore for Android. In addition, there has been no update to its Amazon UK site and most of the users have installed the app via amazon.com.
The Amazon Appstore for Android, launched in March 2011, features apps for Android-based devices that can be downloaded from it either free or purchasable. The Appstore offers a “free app a day” feature through which users can download an app or game for free.
