Flipkart has released a teaser hinting that it will soon start selling OnePlus devices. Until now, all OnePlus devices were sold exclusively through Amazon. But, if reports are to be believed, the 64GB Sandstone Black version of the OnePlus One will now be up for sale on Flipkart from June 22 onwards.
If this move materializes, it will come as part of OnePlus’s efforts to expand its customer base in India. Recently, OnePlus introduced three months of extended warranty for all users whose phones are stuck in service centres for more than 15 days. OnePlus is also expanding its customer care services in India. Since midnight yesterday, the OnePlus One 64GB Sandstone Black is being sold for Rs. 19,998, at a special Rs. 2,000 discount on Amazon. The discount was offered only for today, and it is already out of stock.
OnePlus is also coming up with a successor to the OnePlus One. The OnePlus 2 had been rumoured for a while, which OnePlus confirmed a few days ago by introducing two online contests as part of OnePlus 2’s promotion. The company has also confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will run on an ‘improved’ version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, dubbed as v2.1. Developed by Qualcomm in collaboration with OnePlus, this new processor will feature new cooling methods to take care of the heating issue previously faced by the Snapdragon 810.
If Flipkart starts selling OnePlus devices, Amazon will no longer retain exclusive selling rights to OnePlus devices. This move, however, can be positive for OnePlus owing to Flipkart’s huge customer base in India.
