As per reports, the company has already appointed a new SVP for its Mobile Business Group in China.

Lenovo might soon stop launching phones under its own brand name, and instead launch the devices under its Moto brand, according to a report by Campaign Asia, It was noted that Xudong Chen will be moving on from his role as the Co-President and SVP of Lenovo’s Mobile Business Group in China, and will be replaced by Gina Qiao, who was the SVP of HR at Lenovo. The report says that this change is meant to enhance the marketing capacity within the mainland.

Yang Yuanqing, Lenovo’s Chairman and CEO, added that the company’s overseas smartphone performance was better than China’s. During its quarterly reports, he revealed that sales of Moto-branded and Lenovo-branded mobile for the second fiscal quarter for the year were $2 billion, with a 12% reduction year-over-year. However, PCs still formed the core of Lenovo’s business and accounted for 70% of the total revenue per year.

Earlier this year, the company had admitted that the acquisition of Motorola “didn’t meet expectations”. However, things might be looking up. A few days ago, Yuanqing had announced that the company had sold a million units of the Moto Z smartphone. This makes Moto’s new flagship smartphone one of the most successful devices produced by the company.
