GSMA’s Mobile Connect solution is now live in India. The industry body announced the service today, in association with major telecom players from the country. Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, Tata Docomo and Telenor, have all deployed the mobile connect solution on their networks. In addition, service providers, like MakeMyTrip have also implemented the solution on their apps. According to GSMA, GoIbibo, Trupay, Zee Digital, Twigly and Zomato will follow suit very soon.

With this, the mobile connect solution has been implemented by 42 operators in 22 countries. “India is already the world’s second largest mobile market, and as the country enters a new phase of mobile industry growth that will unlock far-reaching social and economic benefits, it is critical that consumer security is ensured at all times,” said Mats Granryd, Director General, GSMA.

GSMA’s Mobile Connect is a two factor login solution for the mobile first world, where your phone will work as the key for all online logins. There are also provisions for using PINs to further fortify your privacy online.
