AI revolution? Not for iPhone and Samsung users, survey reveals shocking stats

73 percent of Apple Intelligence users and 87 percent of Galaxy AI users said that AI features added “little to no value” to their smartphone experience.

One in five iPhone users said they would consider switching to a Samsung phone if Galaxy AI features were significantly better.

In today’s tech-driven world, AI features are becoming increasingly common in smartphones, promising smarter, more intuitive experiences. But despite all the hype, it seems many iPhone and Samsung users aren’t all that impressed. A recent survey revealed that a large percentage of users from both brands find AI features to be of little value, raising questions about the real impact of AI on smartphone experiences.

According to the survey, 73 percent of Apple Intelligence users and 87 percent of Galaxy AI users said these AI features added “little to no value” to their smartphone experience.

Despite this dissatisfaction, the role of AI in purchase decisions remains significant, especially for iPhone users. Nearly half (47.6 percent) of iPhone users considered AI to be an important factor when choosing a phone.

Interestingly, one in five iPhone users (16.8 percent) said they would consider switching to a Samsung phone if Galaxy AI features were significantly better. This hints at a shift in brand loyalty, as the percentage of loyal iPhone users dropped to 78.9 percent, down from 92 percent in 2021.

On the other hand, Samsung users seem less concerned about AI. Only 23.7 percent of Samsung users said AI was an important factor in their purchase decisions. According to the survey, only 9.7 percent of Samsung users would consider switching to an iPhone if Apple’s AI features were superior. A large majority (67.2 percent) of Samsung users remain loyal to the brand, although this is a dip from 74 percent in 2021.

Looking ahead, Samsung has hinted that some of its AI features could be locked behind a subscription after 2025. However, most users are not willing to pay for AI services. 86.5 percent of Apple users and 94.5 percent of Samsung users said they wouldn’t pay for AI features. It’s worth noting that Apple users are more open to the idea, with 11.6 percent saying they would consider paying for AI services, compared to just 4 percent of Samsung users.

The survey, conducted by sellcell from November 28 to December 6, 2024, involved over 2,000 smartphone users across the United States.
