Oppo is calling it the "Quick Capture" button and it was revealed in a demo video.

Just like Apple's camera control button, you can also swipe to zoom with the quick capture button.

The primary usecase of this button can be underwater photography.

In September, Apple launched the iPhone 16 series and introduced a new button. I am talking about the ‘Camera Control’ button, which is placed on the right side of the panel to use the camera and its features. This button has been hyped a lot, and many people also loved it as well. Now, it looks like Oppo is jumping on the Apple bandwagon because the brand has teased its upcoming Find X8 smartphone with a new camera button that is placed on the same side and does the same work as well. However, the name is not the same, because of obvious reasons. Oppo is calling it the “Quick Capture” button and it was revealed in a demo video of the Oppo Find X8 by Find series product manager, Zhou Yibao.

However, one thing I’ll give to Oppo is that it has marketed this button better than Apple. If you have tried underwater photography, you know the pain of display not responding. We use volume rockers in that case but those buttons don’t allow us to do other things like zoom. So, here’s where this new button comes into action. Just like Apple’s camera control button, you can also swipe to zoom with the quick capture button, which is easier for underwater photography. Furthermore, this button also comes with haptic technology, so if you just put pressure on it, the camera will open, and then by pressing it hard, it captures.

The Oppo Find X8 can feature a 6.5-inch BOE-made OLED display and can be IP68/IP69-rated for water and dust resistance. It might measure just 7mm thick and weigh around 190 grams and will be available in Black, White, Blue, and Pink.

Moreover, it is expected to be powered by the upcoming Dimensity 9400 SoC. For photography, it can sport a triple camera setup, including a 50-megapixel main, 50-megapixel ultrawide, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Lastly, a 5,700mAh battery can power this smartphone, supporting 80-watt wired and 50-watt magnetic wireless fast charging.
