Gionee S6 features a full metal unibody construction, a Mediatek 6753 processor and 3GB of RAM
Gionee has launched its S6 smartphone in India. The all metal phone is priced at Rs. 19,999 and is currently available for sale on Flipkart. The phone is available in three different colours — Silver, Gold and Rose Gold. Earlier this month, Gionee announced the phone, and suggested a January 26 launch but then it was delayed. As mentioned the phone has an all metal unibody construction, and the edges are chamfered to give the phone a premium look. Even though its is a big phone, it weighs just 145 grams which makes it quite handy amongst its rivals.
The Gionee S6 comes with a 5.5-inch HD display, giving the phone a 1280 x 720p resolution. It’s an AMOLED panel. The phone is powered by a Mediatek MT6753 SoC. This 1.3GHz SoC was earlier seen on the Coolpad Note 3 and the Lenovo Vibe K4 Note. It has 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM and a 32GB of internal storage which is expandable using a microSD card. The S6 supports upto 128GB of microSD cards. At the rear, the phone has a 13MP shooter which is aided by a single LED flash. At the front, the phone feature a 5MP camera. The 3150mAh battery is sealed and the phone charges using a USB Type-C port. The company says using the extreme power saving mode allows the phone to last for more than 300 hours. On the connectivity front, the phone supports 4G and VoLTE (Voice over LTE). It should be mentioned, that VoLTE service is not yet available in India.
The phone runs on Gionee’s Amigo OS 3.1 which is layered on top of Android Lollipop 5.1.1. The UI supports features like – one click cache clearing, timed refreshed sync. The camera app of the Gionee S6 includes features like GIF maker, barcode scanner and burst mode.
