2nd Gen. Moto G prices slashed by Rs. 3,000, down to Rs. 9,999
Motorola has slashed Moto G (2nd Gen.) prices by Rs. 3,000, now selling on Flipkart for Rs. 9,999; 3rd Gen. Moto G announcement expected soon
Motorola has given the Moto G (2nd Gen.) a permanent price cut of Rs. 3,000. Motorola India tweeted about the discount yesterday, and like all Motorola smartphones in India, the mid-range smartphone is now available exclusively on Flipkart, for Rs. 9,999. While there have been short-duration discounts on Moto G previously, this is the first time that the prices have been reduced on a permanent basis.

Abroad, Moto G (2nd Gen.)'s prices have been dropped to $150. Although Motorola has not given an official reason behind the price drop, it is expected that this will pave way for the arrival of the new Moto G. The 3rd generation installment of Moto G is rumoured for launch around September.
The 2nd generation Moto G runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, along with Adreno 305 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, and features a 5-inch HD IPS LCD display, 8-megapixel primary camera and 2-megapixel front camera. The upcoming Moto G (3rd Gen.) was first rumoured to be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 610 SoC, although later rumours suggested a Snapdragon 410 SoC underneath its hood – a disappointing upgrade considering its price point. Other rumoured specifications include a 4.97-inch HD display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, a 13MP-5MP camera combination and Android Lollipop v5.1.1.
If the specifications turn out to be true, then only the camera specifications will be a distinct upgrade over the current Moto G. It is not yet clear whether Motorola will be aiming to lower its price point for the new Moto G as well, considering that phones in lower budget segment than Moto G now feature similar or better specifications.
