Samsung’s New LCDs

Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung launched three new series for its LCD monitors along with digital projectors and photo frames in the domestic market in order to strengthen its IT peripherals business in India. The three series (T Monitor, Myst Plus and Lime) which comprises eight new models would be priced between Rs 8,100 and Rs 18,000. Samsung which sold nearly 6 lakh units of LCD monitors last year plans to sell 1.2 mn units this year with the launch of the new series.
The Samsung digital photo frame is priced at
Rs 9,900. The company also plans to launch Wi-Fi enabled photo frames to enable users to share photographs on the go. According to Samsung India Electronics VP-IT Business Sanjay Sharma, “Currently, the market for digital photo frames are dominated by the unbranded players who are selling about 1,500-2,000 units per month. With this launch we plan to capture 30—35 per cent of this market.”
The new digital projector in the professional segment is priced between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh. Additionally, Samsung also plans to launch digital projectors for the home segment. In addition, the company also plans to boost its retail presence too and open ten new retail outlets in next six to eight months, dedicated to its IT products.
