Xiaomi had quite a number of announcements to make yesterday at an event in China. Along with the Redmi Note 8, Note 8 Pro, and Redmi TV, the Chinese electronics manufacturer also announced an updated version of the RedmiBook 14 laptop. The new RedmiBook 14 is, according to the company’s post on Weibo, powered by Intel 10th Gen Core CPUs and discrete graphics from Nvidia. The new updated range of RedmiBook 14 laptops starts at 3,999 CNY (Rs 40,135 approx).
According to a recent report by MSPoweruser, which believes the new model is called RedmiBook 14 Pro, the new laptop is available in three variants. The first one has an Intel Core i5 CPU, 8GB RAM, and a 256GB solid-state drive and costs 3,999 CNY (Rs 40,135 approx). The second offers the same CPU and RAM but with a 512GB solid-state drive at 4,499 CNY (Rs 45,150 approx). The last variant comes with an Intel Core i7 CPU but the same 8GB of RAM and 512GB solid-state drive at 4,999 CNY (Rs 50,152 approx).
In addition, the updated RedmiBook 14 features a 14-inch display with 250 nits of brightness and an 81.2-percent screen-to-body ratio. Complementing it is an Nvidia GeForce MX250 graphics card with 2GB of video RAM, which should aid photo editing and light gaming. Ports on the laptop include two USB-A 3.0 ports, one USB-A 2.0 port, a full-size HDMI port, and a 3.5mm audio jack for headsets. According to the company, its 46Wh battery can deliver up to 10 hours of continuous use on a single charge. The RedmiBook 14 weighs 1.5 kilogrammes.
The RedmiBook 14 was originally launched in May this year with Intel’s 8th Gen Core CPUs. The update announced yesterday focusses on Intel’s new 10th Gen chips. Xiaomi has yet to announce the RedmiBook 14 in India. At the moment, we have no information on when (or whether) the model will make it to India. In China, however, the updated RedmiBook 14 will be available from September 6 in grey, pink, and silver colours..
