HIGHLIGHTS

Huawei laptops are back on the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft is clearing off its existing Huawei inventory and is not selling any new laptops.

A Microsoft spokesperson promised regular updates for existing Huawei laptops.

Huawei laptops are back again for sale on the Microsoft Store after being completely ruled out by the software giant. Twitter user WalkingCat noticed that Huawei’s laptops had returned and The Verge too spotted that the Matebook 13, the Matebook, and the Matebook X Pro were all back for sale again. The Redmond-based giant has made it clear that it is just clearing its existing inventory and is not selling any new laptops as of now.

The addition of Huawei to the US entity list last month made sure that the Chinese giant would no longer have ties with tech giants like Google, Intel, ARM, Qualcomm, Microsoft, etc. Microsoft has been silent over Huwaei’s ban but has now opened up by issuing a statement to The Verge. “We have been evaluating, and will continue to respond to, the many business, technical and regulatory complexities stemming from the recent addition of Huawei to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Administration Regulations Entity List,” said a Microsoft spokesperson. “As a result, we are resuming the sale of existing inventory of Huawei devices at Microsoft Store.”

On Monday, Huawei CEO, Ren Zhengfei said that the company's troubles with the US government could affect Huawei’s revenue by $30 billion.Meanwhile, Zhengfei expects things to improve by 2021.

What about the regular updates on devices being sold?

A laptop without updates gets outdated pretty soon. So buying a Huawei laptop with no hardware or software updates can be a pain. Microsoft has you covered here:

A Microsoft spokesperson said they would "continue to offer Microsoft software updates to customers with Huawei devices,” which means that Huawei laptops will keep receiving Microsoft’s software and security updates regularly.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro is available for sale on the Microsoft Store, listed for $1,499. So is the Huawei MateBook D for $999 and the Huawei MateBook 13 in Intel core i5 and core i7 variants for $999 and $1,299.
