Microsoft launched the Surface Pro AKA Surface Pro (5) back in in May of 2017 and after almost a year, the company is finally bringing the hybrid laptop lineup to India. The new Microsoft Surface Pro will be powered by the last gen Intel Core chips with the base model featuring a Core m3 processor. The prices for the Surface Pro in India start at Rs 64,999 and one would have to buy the Surface Pro Type Cover separately which is available in two variants, priced at Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively. The new Surface Pro lineup along with its accessories will be available online via Microsoft store, Amazon, and Flipkart. Customers can also purchase the laptop from retail stores such as Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales and other authorised retailer in India.
The Microsoft Surface Pro will be available in five variants with the highest variant featuring an Intel Core i7 processors, a 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM and Intel Iris 640 graphics, priced at Rs 182,999. Talking about the launch, Vineet Durani, Director – Windows and Devices, Microsoft India said, “We are delighted to announce the launch of Surface Pro in India and offer our consumers another superior device that will enable them create, study, work and play virtually anywhere”. He added “We continue to push boundaries to better serve the needs of our customers who are seeking greater mobility and power in their devices to stay productive. The new Surface Pro delivers the versatility of a laptop and a creative studio in one thin, lightweight device.”
All variants of the Surface Pro hybrid laptops will feature a 12.3-inch PixelSense touch display. Microsoft is claiming up to 13.5 hours of battery life with the new Surface Pro machines. As for the accessories, the Surface Pen (Available in Silver and Charcoal) is priced at Rs. 7,999 and the Microsoft Surface Arc Mouse (Available in light grey) is priced at Rs. 6,399.
With the new Surface Pro and the entire Microsoft Surface lineup to be a year old now and like most laptop OEMs we can expect the company to refresh the lineup this year. We just hope that Microsoft brings its to be announced laptop lineup a bit early this time.
