Apple’s latest macOS, Big Sur is literally around the corner. The new OS will be available for download starting November 12. With the new OS, users can expect to find some design changes and new features. You can learn about what’s new with macOS Big Sur here. But the more important question is whether your Mac is compatible with the new OS or not?
In the overview tab, you should see information about the machine you have. For example, if you have a 2018 MacBook Air (review), then it will read, “MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2018)”. Check if your Mac is one of those mentioned above, and you will know whether your mac is compatible or not.
If your Mac is one of the compatible models above, then you can start checking for the software update starting November 12. It is recommended that you back up important data before upgrading. You should receive a notification that the new OS is ready for download, but if you don't, follow the following steps.
You will be prompted if the new OS is available for download. If it isn't, try checking after some time.
All the new late 2020 Macs announced in November will come preinstalled with macOS Big Sur. The new Macs are available in India and you can learn more about them here.
