Last week Apple held its ‘One More Thing’ event where the company showed off the much-anticipated Apple Silicon for the Mac. The new Apple M1 chip was touted to bring with it some impressive performance and leaks corroborated the expectations set by Apple. If you were holding off picking up a new Mac in anticipation of the new Apple Silicon, then you will be happy to know that the new Macs are now on sale. The new Apple M1 chip will power the MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro and the Mac Mini. The design of the laptop hasn’t changed. The only change is the new chip powering the device.
All the three Macs powered by the M1 are available on Apple’s India website and a user interested in purchasing it can simply log onto the website and purchase them. But there is a catch. While you can order the new Macs on Apple’s website, you will get delivery of the laptop or Mini only in the first week of December. Checking with a variety of popular pin codes, we got delivery dates that fluctuate between the 1st of December and the 7th of December. So, if you are looking to pick up the Mac, know that you’ll be waiting a few days before you get your hands on it.
The Apple M1 powered MacBook Air starts at Rs 92,900 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, however, you do have the option to customize it with more RAM and more storage if you like. You can get up to 16GB RAM and up to 2TB storage.
The Apple M1 powered MacBook Pro is currently available only in the 13-inch variant. It starts at Rs 1,22,900 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant configurable once again with 16GB RAM and up to 2TB storage.
The M1 powered Mac Mini starts at Rs 64,900 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant with customization options of 16GB RAM and up to 2TB storage.
One thing to note is that all the variants come with the same M1 chip. There is no option of different clock speeds or frequencies.
