Intel has subtly suggested that a new version of Windows is expected to be released next year.

This new version is expected to be Windows 12.

Intel hopes that this upcoming "Windows refresh” will boost its revenues.

Intel has suggested that a new version of Windows, possibly referred to as Windows 12, is expected to be released next year. During a recent financial conference with Citi, Intel discussed its financial prospects and made reference to a forthcoming “Windows refresh.”

According to a report by The Verge, Intel has hinted at a “Windows refresh” slated for 2024, with the expectation that it will increase its revenues. During Citi’s analyst conference last month, Intel CFO David Zinsner mentioned a potential Windows update for the following year, indicating consumers might upgrade their PCs because of a new Windows release.

“We actually think 2024 is going to be a pretty good year for client, in particular because of the Windows refresh,” said Zinsner at the Citi analyst conference.

“We still think that the install base is pretty old, and does require a refresh. We think next year may be the start of that given the Windows catalyst,” Zinsner added.

Zinsner’s remarks, which were made about a month ago, were first brought to light by PC Gamer, and come months after references to Windows 12 were leaked from internal Intel documents.

Intel is reportedly working on a Meteor Lake desktop platform for the next generation of Windows, expected to be called Windows 12.

While Microsoft has not made any official announcements about Windows 12, there are indications that the company is exploring the incorporation of AI-powered features in upcoming versions of the Windows operating system.

“As we start to develop future versions of Windows we’ll think about other places where AI should play a natural role in terms of the experience,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s head of consumer marketing, in an interview with The Verge earlier this year.
