At CES 2024, HP has launched an ambitious array of high-tech gaming gear, headlined by the OMEN Transcend 14, which stakes its claim as the world’s lightest and best-cooled 14-inch gaming laptop.
This flagship device, a successor to the acclaimed Omen Transcend 16, dazzles with its IMAX Enhanced Certified 2.8K 120Hz VRR OLED display, and is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor alongside NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU.
Further accelerating HyperX’s integration, HP also unveiled the Alloy Rise Keyboard, billed as the world’s most customizable toolless mechanical gaming keyboard.
Joining this impressive lineup is the OMEN Transcend 32 Gaming Monitor, a 4K UHD behemoth with a 240Hz refresh rate and innovative cooling technology. These announcements, coupled with updates to the OMEN and Victus laptop series and new gaming peripherals, reflect HP’s deepening commitment to the gaming industry.
With the OMEN Transcend 14 starting at $1,499.99 (₹1,24,672 approx.) and availability commencing from January 8, 2024, HP is setting the stage for a transformative year in gaming technology.

Belonging to the same family of laptops as last year’s Omen Transcend 16, the HP Omen Transcend 14 boasts itself as the world’s lightest and best-cooled 14-inch gaming laptop. A notable highlight is its IMAX Enhanced Certified 2.8K 120Hz VRR OLED display, providing high visual fidelity.
The screen also claims 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and 500 nits HDR brightness, which, for the uninitiated, is not the same as the SDR brightness. The laptop also features a unique lattice-less sky-printed RGB keyboard, which adds an aesthetic appeal to its design. Powering this device is the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, paired with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPUs, the TGP of the latter is not yet available.
The laptop will also feature up to 32GB LPDDR5 RAM running at 7467MHz. Storage options are not yet stated but expect PCIe Gen 4 SSDs to be standard across the board. An advanced thermal design, co-engineered with Intel, ensures the laptop remains cool under pressure.
Since 2024 is the year when AI finally goes mainstream, the laptop has some other notable features including AI capabilities with local and cloud-based solutions, including Otter.ai for live transcripts and AI-generated notes. Lastly, the Omen Transcend 14 also features a HyperX-tuned audio system, promising immersive sound quality.
On its official page, the laptop is promising 6 hours of battery life. On average gaming laptops do not give more than 2-3 hours of battery backup. So it’d be interesting to see if the HP Omen Transcend 16 can deliver.
