The Dell Latitude 7285, the world's first detachable 2-in-1 with wireless charging is now available for purchase. The device starts at $1,199.99 (approximately Rs 77,500) and supports wireless charging with the help of an optional wireless charging keyboard and mat priced at $549.99 (approximately Rs 35,500). Dell's wireless charging keyboard is priced at $379.99 (approx. Rs 24,500), while the wireless charging mat will set consumers back by $199.99 (approx. Rs 12,900).
Dell Latitude 7285 was first showcased at CES 2017 and the tablet needs to be docked to the wireless charging keyboard in order to be charged wirelessly. Dell also states that wireless charging mat cannot be used on metal surfaces. On the hardware front, the detachable 2-in-1 sports a 12.3-inch display with a resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels and can be configured with up to Intel Core i7 vPro processor. The base variant does not include productivity keyboard and active pen.
Dell says its 2-in-1 shipments surged by 48 percent in first quarter of 2017 and the new 2-in-1 devices are seen as a way to fuel the sales. The detachable offers 8GB RAM and an option for up to 256GB SSD storage. It also supports Microsoft's Windows Hello facial recognition system for login and supports encryption as well as malware protection. The Dell Latitude 7285 can also be configured with mobile broadband options.
Dell's new 2-in-1 detachable runs Windows 10 Pro and comes with a 30-day Microsoft Office trial. It uses a 45 watt USB Type-C adapter for charging and Dell is offering 1 year hardware service and onsite or in-home service support.
