Asus is set to “make waves” with the launch of its latest netbook – the ASUS EEE PC Seashell Karim Rashid (1008P). With what is supposed to be an “elegant techno-chic Digi-Wave design”, the Seashell netbook was designed by Karim Rashid, who is hailed as one of the world’s leading designers, with over 300 awards to his name and 3000 designs in production. Asus has realized Rashid’s designs by trying to satisfy all five senses (especially touch) with its aesthetics, using exotic materials to create a mold-cut concept of an organic, slender and robust Digi-Wave chassis that ripples like a wave.
The Asus Eee PC Seashell Karim Rashid Collection is meant to convey a sense of forward wave like motion to the touch, and has been manufactured using a mold roller (IMR) and a combination of rubber paint and metallic materials to create unique finishes with great precision while maintaining colour and textural consistency. Aimed at fashion conscious netbook users, the ASUS EEE PC Seashell Karim Rashid (1008P) delivers sufficient computing power and a 6 hour battery life (with ASUS’ Super Hybrid Engine for power savings) on a lightweight 1.1 kg frame with soft-to-touch and vivid Hot Pink or Matte Coffee Brown Finish (the latter will be available in India).
Priced at 26,990/-, the ASUS EEE PC Seashell Karim Rashid (1008P) will host Window 7 Starter, as well as ASUS’ proprietary Express Gate. Express Gate is an ancillary operating system that boots nearly instantly and allows users internet and browser access, along with native Skype, photo-browser, online games, and instant messaging; all without booting Windows. Other proprietary features include Eee Docking, a software suite that allows you to access ASUS’ Cloud Computing Service, along with a host of online content and useful tools including Live Update.
