Asus has launched the Windows 8.1-powered Zenbook Pro UX501 laptop with its signature "spun-metal" lid and brushed-metal surfaces. The sleek and powerful device takes on the 15 inch Apple MacBook Pro with Retina display.
Touted as the Macbook Pro killer, the Asus Zenbook Pro UX501 has a compact chassis that's just 0.81-inches thin. The laptop is made from lightweight aluminum featuring Asus's iconic spun-metal finish and diamond-cut chamfered edges. It has a 15.6 inch IPS display with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and 178 degrees wide viewing angles. The laptop is powered by a 2.6 GHz quad core Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA's GTX 960M GPU with 2/4GB of DDRR5 VRAM and up to 16GB of RAM. Asus is offering the laptop with multiple storage options including a 1TB 5400 RPM HDD, a 128GB or 256GB SATA III SSD, or a 512GB PCIe x4 SSD.
The ZenBook Pro UX501 has three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port, one mini DisplayPort and SDXC card reader. Asus is also offering some models with a Thunderbolt port for ultra-fast data transfer. Connectivity options included are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. It comes with an inbuilt HD web camera with microphone for easy chatting. The laptop comes with ICE power-tuned audio. It measures 15.1” x 10.0” x .8” and weighs five pounds. According to company claims, the laptop runs Windows 8.1 OS for up to six hours on a single charge.
The new Asus Zenbook Pro UX501 is now available on Asus online store as well as retail stores in the US, starting from $1,799 (Rs. 1.1 lakhs approx.) onwards.
