Apple unveils new entry-level 21.5-inch iMac, starts at Rs. 79900

With the 21.5-inch iMac, Apple brings down starting price for the all-in-one desktop line to $1099.

Apple has introduced a new entry-level model of its iMac computer with price starting at Rs. 79,900. The iMac features a 21.5-inch full HD display display, 1.4 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost Speeds up to 2.7 GHz.

The new iMac features Intel HD 5000 graphics, 8GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive. All iMac models include next generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, xand two Thunderbolt ports and four USB 3.0 ports. The computers come preloaded with iLife and iWork tools.

The $1299 version features 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz) with 4MB L3 cache, while the $1499 variant features 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz) with 6MB L3 cache. Both the iMacs come with 8GB (two 4GB) of 1600MHz DDR3 memory and 1TB (5400-rpm) hard drive. You can check out more details about the new iMac series here.

The iMac update follows Apple's recent Worldwide Developers Conference where the company showed off a new version of OS X – OS X Yosemite. Scheduled to be released later this year, Yosemite comes with several new cloud-based features and streamlines MacBook or iMac with iPhone or iPad with the mobile iOS 8 software. Apple recently introduced refreshed MacBook Air laptops with 4th Gen Intel Haswell processors.  The new range comes loaded with the new processors, flash storage, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, up to 12 hours of battery life and Apple’s iLife and iWork apps. Apple claims that the new Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors work in combination with OS X Mavericks to give the 13-inch MacBook Air up to 12 hours of battery life and the 11-inch MacBook Air up to 9 hours of battery life. iTunes movie playback times increase to 12 hours on the 13-inch notebook and 9 hours on the 11-inch notebook.
