Apple can ditch Mini LED for OLED panel in MacBook Pro from 2026

As per Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young, by the year 2026, Apple might switch from mini-LED to OLED displays.

The future MacBook Pro models are expected to offer higher brightness, deeper blacks, and improved power efficiency.

After its iPhone 16 launch in September, Apple also unveiled its latest Mac lineup recently. We got to see a new MacBook Pro lineup with the M4 and M4 chipset on the 14-inch and 16-inch variants respectively. Now, just a couple of days after the launch of the new MacBook lineup, rumours have started to come in for the future MacBooks. Rumours surrounding the 2026 MacBook Pro have already started doing rounds. Currently, the 2024 MacBook Pro models pack a mini-LED display. As per Apple analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young, by the year 2026, Apple might switch from mini-LED to OLED displays. With this change, the future MacBook Pros are expected to offer higher brightness, deeper blacks, and improved power efficiency. In addition to this, previously Mark Gurman had suggested that the MacBook Pro can even get slimmer in the future.

But there are two years before Apple launches the MacBook Pro 2026, what changes it finalises upon, only time will tell. Until then, let’s quickly rewind to what the newly launched MacBook Pro laptops have to offer.

MacBook Pro with M4 specifications

The newly launched MacBook Pro features an upgrade to the more powerful and AI-ready M4 chipset. The base model now comes with a minimum of 16GB RAM, while the M4 Pro and M4 Max models come with 24GB RAM. This time, Apple has also incorporated the nano-texture display option. The USB-C ports now support Thunderbolt 5, which allows for transfer speeds of up to 120GB/s.

As Apple is currently in the process of rolling out its Apple Intelligence features, these will also be available on the MacBook Pro with macOS Sequoia 15.1. In India, the MacBook Pro 14 starts at Rs 1,69,900, while the 16-inch version with the M4 Pro chipset is priced from Rs 2,49,900.
