Google has rolled out a standalone app to directly launch the Google Lens, an application designed to display relevant information using visual analysis. Earlier, users had to first wake up the Assistant and then tap the camera icon to start the Lens app. Lens was also avaialble within the Google Photos app and would allow users to analyse images after capturing them. With the new standalone Google Lens app, an icon is added in the app drawer and on home screen that directly opens Google Lens.

Meanwhile. the LG G7 ThinQ phone offers the fastest way to launch Google Lens through a dedicated hardware button on the device. Tapping the button once will launch the Google Assistant, while tapping it twice will boot up Google Lens.

Google Lens lets users do a real-time search with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).

Lens, which was announced last year, received several updates at I/O 2018 in May. The Google Lens now brings three new features – Smart Text Selection, Style Match and Real-time results. The company announced that the new features would soon be available on the main camera app of Pixel phones, LG G7, OnePlus devices, Sony handsets, Xiaomi and Asus phones.

The company started to rolled out Smart Text Selection and Style Match features recently to the Google Lens, even though it has not yet shown up on the Pixel or Pixel 2's camera app.

According to a report, not every Android user can use the new Google Lens app. It requires Android Marshmallow and above to work but it is not compatible with all the Android OS-powered phones. Several users have given bad reviews on the Play Store and the app currently has 2.3 stars on user rating.
