Wellnesys Technologies Private Ltd, a startup incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, has developed a yoga mat called ‘YogiFi’.
This mat leverages advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision (CV) technologies to provide a personalised yoga coaching experience, reports BizzBuss.

The YogiFi mat was recently showcased to several Union Ministers, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Railways, I&B and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on behalf of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
This introduction marks a significant advancement in the at-home yoga experience, providing users with the convenience and flexibility to practise yoga anywhere, accompanied by real-time feedback and coaching.
The YogiFi mat boasts an innovative sensor layer that accurately tracks the user’s yoga postures, offering instant suggestions for correcting alignment and form. This cutting-edge technology ensures a more effective and safer yoga practice, allowing users to perform each pose correctly and maximise the benefits of their yoga sessions.
Developed with support from the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) iHub at IIT Mandi and funded under the NM-ICPS program by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), YogiFi is a completely indigenous product, aligning with the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The mat aims to enhance accessibility and engagement in yogasana training, offering interactive classes and personalised coaching accessible from anywhere in the world.
The YogiFi Smart Mat is engineered to integrate smoothly with other smart home devices, optimising the yoga practice environment by adjusting lighting, sound, and temperature settings for an enhanced experience. This innovation marks a significant advancement in blending traditional wellness practices with modern technology, creating a more immersive and effective yoga experience.
