Xiaomi is scheduled to launch its first VR headset tomorrow and the design of the device may have been leaked before hand. Chinese leakster, KJuma has posted an image, which is claimed to be of Xiaomi’s upcoming VR headset. Judging by the image, it seems like the device will have a fabric-like cover with a zipper that could be used to keep the phone in place. Price of the device is not yet known, but it should be cheaper than the HTC Vive or the Samsung Gear VR.
Xiaomi was initially planning to launch device on August 1, however, they instead released a teaser video on Chinese video sharing website YouKu. The video doesn’t reveal much about the device, except that it will be launched on August 4.
The launch of the VR headset comes just a few days after Xiaomi launched the Mi Notebook Air in China. The device runs on Windows 10 and is available in 13.3-inch and 12.5-inch variants, which are priced at CNY 4,999 (approx. Rs. 50,500) and CNY 3,499 (approx. Rs. 35,400) respectively. The 13.3-inch version is powered by an Intel i5-6200U processor with a Nvidia GeForce 940MX GPU. The device features 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage and a free SATA slot for storage expansion. The 12.5-inch version is powered by an Intel Core M3 processor with 4GB RAM and sports a 128GB SSD. Both variants feature Full HD displays and run Windows 10.
