Xiaomi MIUI 9, the next iteration of company's custom skin based on Android Nougat, will be officially announced on July 26. The Chinese smartphone maker has already confirmed the launch date and now a new leak shows a list of devices compatible with this version of Xiaomi's mobile operating system.
The new leak on Weibo corroborates an older report revealing the list of eligible smartphones. According to the new leak, Xiaomi plans to update a total of 19 Mi series and 17 Redmi series smartphones to MIUI 9 version. The leak claims that Xiaomi's 2017 flagship Mi 6 will be the first device to receive the update.
The leak suggests that besides the Mi 6, the MIUI 9 update will be rolled out to Mi 5S Plus, Mi 5C, Mi 5S, Mi 4S, Mi 4, Mi 4C, Mi 3, Mi 2, Mi 2S, Mi Mix, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Mi Note 2, Mi Note, Mi Pad 2 and Mi Pad devices. In the Redmi series, the MIUI 9 is expected to hit Redmi Pro, Redmi Note 4X, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 2, first generation Redmi Note, Redmi 4X, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Plus, Redmi 3X, Redmi 3, Redmi 2A, Redmi 2, Redmi 1S and the first generation Redmi smartphone.
Xiaomi is yet to officially confirm the list of smartphones getting the MIUI 9 update later this month. It plans to launch a new smartphone dubbed the Mi 5X on July 26, and reports claim that the Mi 5X will launch with MIUI 8, and will get MIUI 9 as an OTA upgrade. While Xiaomi seems to be updating its older smartphones in China, the handsets getting the update in India will reportedly only include the recently launched smartphones. Xiaomi's MIUI 9 is expected to bring new features like support for multi-window mode, night mode, and bundled notifications among other improvements.
