HIGHLIGHTS

Xiaomi has announced the update in an official forum thread and also touched upon the progress of some confirmed issues that people raised on the forum via feedback for Poco F1.

Almost 40 days after Xiaomi released the MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM for Poco F1, the company has announced that the official release of the Stable ROM will be releasing next week. The information has been communicated through the company’s official forum thread which also lists the progress of a number of issues that users reported via feedback for the Poco F1. The issues are related to Poco Launcher UI, gaming and Widevine L1 support for HD videos streaming on Netfilx.

MIUI 10 Global Stable

“The Official Release will be in next week, thanks for all the Beta testers,” the MIUI Team said in the official thread. The company announced MIUI 10 earlier this year and claimed that it took the market trend into account and included gestures, which perform the role of navigation keys on a smartphone. The overall ROM is claimed to be reworked for rounded icons and some audio aspects in MIUI 10 such as the notification tone have been revised. The company also emphasised the use of AI on the software when it announced the ROM in China and claimed that it will enable capturing bokeh shots on all supported devices and on both, the front and rear-facing cameras.

Gaming

Some users claimed that Asphalt 8 and 9 are not compatible on Google Play. On this, the company said that it had a meeting with Gameloft team last week and believes that this issue will be resolved soon. For users who claimed that after updating PUBG Mobile to the latest version, the screen notch covers some of the content, the MIUI team has said that the issue has now been been resolved by PUBG Mobile Team on the Poco F1.

Other major issues

Some users suggested support for customising app icon size and desktop grid on the Poco Launcher. Xiaomi says that the development is finished and it will be reflected in next week's Poco Launcher update via Google Play. The company has also accepted suggestions to include dark mode support for app drawer on the launcher. The “OK Google” command to summon the Google Assistant on the phone, which was reported to be not working, has been reportedly fixed and the company says that after the beta testing, it is going to release the fix in the coming official version.

When it comes to Widevine L1 to support HD streaming on Netfilx, the company says that it is still developing the support with Google and Qualcomm, and it will try to release the Beta in the fourth quarter. However, the company’s promise of certifying the phone with Widevine L1 via a OTA update is questionable. MIUI 10 developers are also said to be working on bringing support to shoot 4K videos at 60fps on the back camera.
