Expanding its electronic products portfolio, Xiaomi has launched a new Mi Wireless Charger with support for universal fast charging, for a price of just 69 Yuan which roughly converts to $10 or Rs 700. Xiaomi claims that the Mi Wireless Charger (Universal Fast Charge Edition) comes with an aluminum shell and polished secondary anode treatment for texture enhancement. The upper panel is made of silicone material which increases friction and has shock absorption capabilities.
The charger has an LED indicator and according to Xiaomi, the wireless charger has a sensing distance of up to 4mm. Xiaomi says that non-metal mobile phone cases will not affect the wireless charging and users can even charge their phones with back covers put on. The Qi Wireless Charging standard charger supports 7.5W/10W fast charging. “Phones such as Mi MIX 2S, iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus can be charged at 7.5W while the devices such as Samsung Galaxy Note 9, which supports Qi Wireless Charging, can be charged at 10W. It also supports 5W wireless charging for efficiency,” Gizmochina reports.
The Mi Wireless Charger ships with multiple security protections, including temperature protection, short circuit protection, power protection, overvoltage protection, foreign object detection, among others. Recently, Samsung launched a Galaxy Wireless Charger Duo that can fast charge two supported phones or a phone and smartwatch, simultaneously. Apple is also expected to launch the AirPower charging mat alongside the new iPhones on September 12. According to a Chinese website, AirPower mat may come with the price tag of 1000 yuan (approx $145 or Rs 10,000).
