Xiaomi India President Muralikrishnan B steps down to pursue a doctorate at the Indian School of Business.
Muralikrishnan B played a key role in Xiaomi’s growth, overseeing operations, services, and strategic projects.
It has not been officially revealed who will step into his shoes.
Xiaomi India President, Muralikrishnan B has stepped down from his role at the company. An official communication from the brand reveals that he is stepping down from his role to continue his education. He will pursue an Executive Doctorate in Management at the Indian School of Business. He joined Xiaomi in 2018 as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and was later promoted to the role of President.
This exit comes at a time when Xiaomi is trying to solidify its market position in India. Muralikrishnan B has played a significant role in Xiaomi’s recent resurgence in the Indian smartphone market. When he first joined, he was tasked with the role of scaling offline retail operations. Eventually, he also oversaw operations, services, public affairs, and strategic projects.
Xiaomi has officially announced the same through a press release. He will be leaving at the end of the year but will still associate with the company as an independent Strategic Advisor. Post his exit, Muralikrishnan will reportedly go on a six-month gardening leave, as per an Economic Times report. This is a common practice in the industry and helps prevent immediate employment in competing roles.
Recalling his time at Xiaomi Muralikrishnan said, “My experience at Xiaomi India has been one of the most fulfilling chapters of my career. The values of sincerity and passion that Xiaomi embodies have been central to our journey. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together in such a dynamic market. I am grateful to Xiaomi’s leadership for their guidance, to my peers and team members for their support, and to our partners and Xiaomi fans who have been integral to our success.”
Speaking about his departure Adam Zeng, Senior Vice President of the Group and President of International Business Department, said, “Under Murali’s leadership, Xiaomi has seen exceptional success in India, continuing to be a key player in the technology landscape and connecting millions to innovative products. We deeply appreciate his contribution, and our commitment to India’s growth journey remains stronger than ever”
