Xiaomi Book S 12.4 is the new Xiaomi tablet on the market but what’s special about this is that it’s a Windows tablet. So, it’s different from Xiaomi’s Pad 5 which runs on Android. But it is also similar to Pad 5 in the sense that both of them are Arm-powered. The Book S 12.4 ships with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2. Let’s have a look at the rest of its repertoire.
The front of the Book S 12.4 is a 12.35-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 2560 x 1600 resolution, up to 500 nits of brightness, 100% of DCI-P3 coverage, and support for Xiaomi Smart Pen (to be bought separately). The stylus sports remote actions thanks to Bluetooth and two on-body buttons.
Like some other high-end tablets of late, the Book S also can be attached to a smart keyboard that Xiaomi sells separately. You can use it thus in a laptop mode.
The tablet comes with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. You can do video calls from the latter along with noise-canceling mics that are backed by Qualcomm Aqstic audio technology. Speaking of audio, you also get dual stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack on this machine.
Among other things, there is a USB-C socket (w/ power and display port), and a microSD card reader. In case you are wondering, yes, the USB-C port will be used for connecting the keyboard too.
Book S 12.4 carries a price tag of €699 (~₹57,276) in Germany and Xiaomi could launch it in other markets too. The exact details are yet to be revealed.
