Cognizance is the Annual Technical Festival of Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee – the place where the very concept of technical education in this continent came into being. Cognizance strives to live up to the illustrious past of the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and to maintain its name and aura throughout India and beyond.
At the Centrestage, we will not let you have a moment free. With a plethora of events including online events like Insomnia and Illushun, theme events Elixir and Edify, Model United Nations, Competitions Chaos and Corpostrat, and the most awaited robotics events like Robosapiens and Armageddon, Cognizance 2015 ensures the best time possible for all enthusiasts.
Cognizance involves the participation of all 23 disciplines of engineering currently present at IIT Roorkee, both in the Roorkee and Saharanpur campuses. The departmental Cognizance events have four main categories: Ideaz- International Level Paper Presentation, Spectrum- On the Spot Events, Spotlight- Real time Industrial Problems and Prototype- International Level Model Making Competition.
‘All study and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ – Cognizance will be making the effort to make study as fun as possible with Techtainment. Sunburn, Speed Painting and the Hula B Boys were an obvious hit last year. And as it has happened before, we bring to you new and innovative ways for you to have fun, while participating and using your technical skills to the best of your abilities. This is year we are organizing an Auto Expo with exhibitors like BMW and Audi, live performances by renowned artists like Eluveitie-Swiss metal folk band with top tracks like Inis Mona, Kate Chruscicka , famous electric violinist performance, Coke Studio Live and a lot more.
Guest Lectures have always been a prominent aspect of Cognizance. We seek to emulate and go beyond what Cognizance has been offering along the years by continuing to invite magnetic personalities to share their experiences and expert advice. This year, Prof. C N R Rao-Bharat Ratna Awardee, Satyajt Bhatkal-Creator of Satyamev Jayate, Vinita Bali-CEO and MD, Britannia Industries,Elizabeth Nyamayaro- Senior Advisor, United Nations Women will grace us with their presence.
With distinguished alumni emerging along its 168 year old heritage, IIT Roorkee prides itself on a reach spread far and wide throughout India and the world.
In our opinion, and we hope that in yours, Cognizance has established itself as one of the technical extravaganzas of the country growing multitudes with every passing year. With fresh look to our events and unique technical problems, we look forward to satisfying the intellectual needs of the budding technocrats of our nation, still carrying on our relentless efforts to provide the best value.
