This issue, known as the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), has been affecting many users across the globe. The culprit? A major outage of CrowdStrike, a leading cybersecurity platform. The issue, which has caused a massive outage, has garnered widespread attention, prompting a response from CrowdStrike. “CrowdStrike is aware of reports of crashes on Windows hosts related to the Falcon Sensor,” the company said. “Our Engineering teams are actively working to resolve this issue.” The company also mentioned that symptoms include hosts experiencing a bugcheck/blue screen error related to the Falcon Sensor.

What is Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)?
The Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), also known as a blue screen error, fatal error, or stop error, is a critical error screen displayed by Microsoft Windows and ReactOS operating systems. This screen appears when the system encounters a severe issue that prevents it from operating safely.
Several factors can trigger a BSoD, including hardware malfunctions, driver problems, or the unexpected termination of essential processes or threads.
According to Wikipedia, the history of blue screen errors dates back to the first beta release of Windows 1.0. In this early version, if Windows detected an incompatible DOS version, it would display an error message saying “Incorrect DOS version” along with other details about the failed checks before proceeding to boot normally. In the final release (version 1.01), this function remains, but a bug in the Windows logo code causes random characters to appear after the “Incorrect DOS version” message once other text messages are removed, as per the popular online encyclopedia.
