Unfortunately, it will only be compatible with devices running on A17 Pro, M1, M1 Max, M2 Ultra, and later.
Apple kickstarted the WWDC 2024 last night with an almost 2-hour long Keynote session. For the initial hour, Apple did not talk about artificial intelligence, but in the second half they introduced AI, nope AI here stands for “Apple Intelligence”. Quite Apple-like behaviour, I must say. Anywho, what is this Apple Intelligence? I am going to summarise it all for you, just read along.
For starters, Apple Intelligence is Apple’s step forward toward AI. It has been pretty silent about the same for the past two years now. So, Apple Intelligence is an answer to all the competition. It will be made available across platforms via iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and MacOS Sequoia.
What is Apple Intelligence?
In simple terms, it is a multimodal, cross-platform approach to today’s AI computing trend. Apple Intelligence includes a lot of generative AI features that we have previously seen on Google and Microsoft, an improved Siri, and ChatGPT integration are all part of it.
Along with all this, Apple has made sure to make the AI experience safer for everyone. Apple has highly focused on privacy along with AI. It claims that it has made sure that using Apple Intelligence is a secure experience for everyone and user data is not shared unnecessarily, even with Apple itself.
Next, Apple informed us that most of the Apple Intelligence features will run on the device itself. However, if needed, it also has a Power Cloud Compute. This will allow for cloud power without sharing data on multiple servers and platforms.
Let’s now take a look at some features that have been introduced with Apple Intelligence.

ChatGPT and more features
For starters, an enhanced Siri and ChatGPT integration are also a part of Apple Intelligence but we will talk about them in-depth later. There are some other AI features that I found really interesting such as Writing Tools, Genmoji, Image Wand, Custom Memory Movies, and Image Playground.
Apple Intelligence compatibility & availability
Now this one’s a bummer! Apple Intelligence features will be first rolled out in beta version this fall and in the US first. However, it will only be compatible with some Apple devices such as iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, iPad Pro (M1 and later), iPad Air (M1 and later), MacBook Air (M1 and later), MacBook Pro (M1 and later), iMac (M1 and later), Mac Mini (M1 and later), Mac Studio (M1 Max and later), and Mac Pro (M2 Ultra).
