Just a couple of days back, Nothing CEO Carl Pei announced that we might not get to see a new Nothing phone before 2025. But it seems like to make that hurt a little sweeter, Carl Bhai has teased the first look of the Nothing OS 3.0 software. What do we know so far about it, and when will it be released? Read along to find out.
Pei took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the images of the upcoming Nothing OS 3.0. He said, “Sorry in advance to the team for this leak… but I’m too excited!”. He attached a few pictures with this tweet that give us a sneak peek into what the upcoming software upgrade will look like.

From the images, it is clear that the Nothing OS 3.0 will feature a Lock Screen customisation feature. Here, users will be able to choose from three options to personalise their device’s lock screen. These will be the Default, Clock+Widgets, and Expanded Widget Area.
According to the images, the default lock screen will feature a standard clock, date, and day style. With the clock+widget style, you can use additional features like changing the displayed time’s font. The images that Carl Pei “leaked” himself also show the clock in a dotted font, accompanied by a weather widget, a contact widget, and a shortcut to quick actions.
Lastly, the expanded widget area option will be an expanded version of the clock+widget type style with larger tiles. Further, you will get the option to choose from both analogue and digital clocks on display in addition to an expanded widget for time and day too.
In his tweet, Carl Pei confirmed that the new software upgrade will drop in September 2024.
