Yes, you heard it right. For most geeks out there, 'swimsuit clad models in virtual reality' is a statement that would spark immediate interest and Sports Illustrated is doing a great job cashing into this VR buzz. According to a report by Android Authority, the magazine's Creative Director, Chris Hercik has revealed that the photoshoot for this year's swimsuit issue was done in collaboration with VR firm, Wevr.
Popular models such as Hannah Davis, Irina Shayk, and Nina Adgal have been shot in various Virtual Reality scenarios, and the content will release on Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit app on Google Play Store. The app will offer 5 free VR scenarios allowing users to be on a beach or swim in a pool with their favourite swimsuit models. Other VR scenarios will remain locked and a fee of $1.99 will be charged to unlock each individual premium experience. So far, the Sports Illustrated team has produced 40 VR experiences with bikini clad models.
The app will be compatible with VR headsets that work with smartphones such as Samsung Gear VR and the Google Cardboard. So guys, now do you dig VR?
