It’s about time!
With Adobe MAX 2009 around the corner, small snippets of what’s to come have begun leaking.
Some of the new features in Flash CS5 and AIR 2.0 earlier, and now — that the upcoming version of Flash Player, which will be demonstrated during MAX 2009, will support hardware acceleration.
Choppy video playback has long been a standing issue with the Flash Player, more so as the web goes HD. Now that even xkcd has made a joke about it, it’s about time to fix it!
In a leaked demonstration video by an NVIDIA employee, we see the Flash player playing HD YouTube content smoothly on an NVIDIA Ion-based computer.
With GPU acceleration support on Tegra devices, it might soon be possible to have HD Flash content playing on even portable devices, such as the Zune HD, and the many other Tegra-based portable devices to come.
