Uber launches UberSHAAN initiative to encourage ex-servicemen to join as driver partners

Uber has partnered with the Ministry of Defence to facilitate with getting interested ex-servicemen to become a part of the initiative

Uber has announced a new initiative called UberSHAAN, which is aimed at encouraging ex-servicemen to join the company as driver partners.  The company made the announcement at an event in Delhi where Uber’s CEO Travis Kalanick was present. Kalanick said, “UberSHAAN helps ex-servicemen and all others to get onboard the Uber platform by providing them entrepreneurial opportunities. This program is all about empowering these individuals to support their families and provide an opportunity for people to get to known India’s veterans better.” Uber has partnered with the Ministry of Defence to facilitate with getting interested ex-servicemen to become a part of the initiative.

During the event, Kalanick also met up with the graduating batch from Uber’s on-going partnership with Maruti’s driver training program. This training program is build from the ground up by Uber and is aimed at helping drivers grow their business, reduce overall operating costs, and provide health benefits to them and their families.
