Twitter is reportedly looking to give all users access to Analytics functions which give information about the most popular tweets and type of followers.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Twitter is testing a new and simplified version of the Analytics feature it provides to businesses that buy ads on Twitter. The Analytics data features information such as the number of followers added in recent times and most popular tweets (including most retweets or most replies). The data also include information about the most popular geographic location of a user’s followers.
“We’ve been experimenting giving the analytics feature to a small groups of users outside our advertising clients,” Wall Street Journal quotes a Twitter statement. “We’ve been happy with the response thus far, and will determine next steps after the conclusion of these tests.”
To access this data, you need to visit Twitter’s Ad dashboard, where you’ll be asked to sign in with your account. After signing in, click on the “Analytics” button on the top left corner. Now click on “Timeline Activity” to check out the data on their tweets. The data is available online and can be downloaded as well.
Exploring further, you’ll find a “Followers” link that directs you to a page with information about the type of users following you. The data also breaks up information by gender and geographical locations. Other notable information that Analytics provides is how a user’s follower base has grown over time.
It’s not known when Twitter made its Analytics available to users, but easy very recently spotted by Christopher Penn, vice president of marketing technology at SHIFT Communications as well as Danny Olson, a digital strategist at Weber Shandwick. Here are some screenshots of the Twitter Analytics:
